Mouth Shapes
Created as part of the Noise Project’s Nomadic Noise Residency curated by Labspace Studios.
DESCRIPTION
Four shapely mouths belonging to the members of Madeleine Co. become complex, noisy instruments and visual canvases in Mouth Shapes. Together, their utterances build soundscapes which are sometimes familiar, sometimes uncanny, and most of all unexpected. Communicating through a four-channel installation, these vessels control and reveal the illusions of constructed film sound and our own universal language.
Mouth Shapes was part of Labspace Studio’s The Nomadic Noise Residency, which brings together a core group of 24 collaborators – artists, producers, designers, makers, urban innovators – for a five month noise residency in Toronto.
